St. Jude 2010 Collegiate Leadership Summit to Get Phired Up
stj_childrens_researchPhired Up recruitment experts Matt Mattson and Jessica Gendron Williams. will teach Dynamic Recruitment and Social Excellence to hundreds of Up 'Til Dawn collegiate volunteers on July 31, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Misty Craft Tapp, a St. Jude representative, had this to say about the 2009 Phired Up program, "When attendees were asked 'Which session did you feel was the most helpful and why' – every single answer was Phired Up!"

According to St. Jude's website, "Up ‘til Dawn unites students from all walks of campus life, staff and their campus communities with the goal to end childhood cancer once and for all. Students help raise awareness and support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through a variety of activities.

"Weeks of planning and preparation culminate when the campuses host an Up ‘til Dawn event, where they ask friends and family to donate to St. Jude and participate in games and activities to celebrate their efforts. Students honor the patients of St. Jude who bravely fight cancer. With the money their campuses raise, these students help advance the mission of finding cures and saving children ... so that patients can grow up and go to college, too."

Phired Up presented a highly acclaimed keynote last year, and will add specific programming breakouts for fraternity/sorority St. Jude volunteers to this year's agenda.  Hundreds of students waited in line after last year's program to get more resources and information and to connect with Mattson and Gendron Williams.

"This is one of the highlights of my year," said Mattson. "We donate this program because we believe in the cause and we believe in the power of college students -- they can save lives if they choose to."

One of the highlights from last year's experience was a tour of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that was provided for Mattson and Gendron Williams.  It inspired this blog post.
